GOLD! An award winning night for Morever at the Charity Film Awards.

Blind Veterans UK & Diabetes UK

We were elated to bring home two awards from this year’s Charity Film Awards. A fantastic acknowledgement of Morever’s hard work in the Charity sector over the past year.

The Charity Film Awards champions effective story-telling and digital engagement among not-for-profit organisations in the UK. Since its launch in 2017 over 1000 charity films have been entered and over 1/4 million votes have been cast.

For the first time, the awards were held as a virtual event, due to the coronavirus pandemic, on Tuesday 21 April 2020.

Our first award of the night was Ken’s Story for Blind Veterans UK which won Gold (in the 20-50 million turnover category). The judges were unanimous in praise for the film ‘Ken’s story’ describing it as ‘poignant and impressive’.

Major Levison Wood, spoke about the film during the ceremony:

‘The film was one of my absolute favourites, very beautifully shot, very cinematic, but also poignant and powerful too.’

“We are delighted that Ken’s Story has been recognised with a Charity Film Gold Award. The film really does highlight the isolation experienced by so many people with sight loss and in the current climate those feelings of isolation are only going to increase.”

Chief Executive of Blind Veterans UK, Major General (Rtd) Nick Caplin CB

Morever then won with Diabetes UK – the Bronze People’s Choice Award in their category for their film ‘You’re Not Alone’ – which shows the emotional impact of diabetes through user generated content.

We are thrilled for the team, for the Charities and the contributors involved – we hope the films continue to work hard for them.
